Lawrence M. Donoghue offers a wealth of
experience in labor and employment law to both individuals and businesses
seeking practical advice on dealing with the complex issues that arise under the
web of state and federal laws regulating workplace behavior. These laws include:
- The Civil Rights Act of 1964
- Americans with Disabilities Act
- Age
Discrimination in Employment Act
- Illinois Human Rights Act
- OSHA Regulations
- Veterans Reemployment Rights Act
- And many others
In recent years he has represented
many executives in negotiating their severance agreements and employment
contracts. These contractual arrangements frequently include non-compete clauses
that limit an executive’s ability to work in his or her field for a period of
time following employment. By working with clients before these agreements are
signed, Larry is often able to negotiate more favorable terms allowing clients
to pursue their career without artificial restrictions.
He has worked with business clients in
employment discrimination matters and litigation and has represented many
clients in investigations brought by the EEOC and state agencies challenging
employment practices. By getting involved early in the investigative process he
is able to forestall more extensive and public proceedings.
In addition, Larry has helped many
clients in revising their personnel policy manuals and other employment
documents to insure compliance with applicable law and avoid liability in the
event of a later challenge.
